Now that I know how to use the brad maker (see the video) www.justhands-on.tv/videos/brad-maker-for-quilters/ I am on the lookout for other ideas - other than my memory board - and I came across this great but simple idea for a brooch which uses up lovely pieces of scrap fabric; Don't forget to send pics for our Show & Tell page!

This 3 day textile fair is organised specifically for those with a passion for stitched embellished and constructed textiles; the show is held at the Cottenham Village Accademy (was College) postcode CB24 8UA; exhibitions, workshops, demonstrators, talk by Jennie Rayment, and we will be there with the Justhands-on.tv stand and goodies too. The winners of the 'Be a Star' competition who won a Janome TXL607 machine, the Satchel of Aurifil Threads and the bundle of books have all been notified; many thanks to all of you who made blocks for the charity/competition draw and sorry you didn't win. The blocks will be put to good use in being made up into quilts for 'Momentum' ; again more of than later as the quilts progress; we had over 150 entries(!) We are still happy to receive star blocks for the quilts - just send them...

Happy New Year to you all: through the wonders of modern technology this is being processed from my holiday location – sunny Lanzarote - having left hubby at home in charge of the house and rubbish. What a difference a bit of sun makes (as well as lighter evenings) but thoughts still turn to quilting – there is an active quilting group here on the island (and one lady won one of Gail Lawther's patterns in the last prize draw) and I now understand there is a shop – so maybe...

Here is a brief summary of what's in store this Month - January 2012 We start the month off with Kim Shaw showing us how to make a delightful little wallhanging which she calles 'Standing Stones' using scrap braids plus a co-ordinating background and I demonstrate a neat little gadget for making covered brads; we have Carolyn Forster demonstrating how she creates her beautiful quilts with the 'Quilting on the Go' method and we continue with our Rosebud Fayre Block of the Month – this...
