Well what a start to the year – according to the experts (and the Daily Mail!) we've been through the most depressing weekend BUT we've also been through Happy Monday. Apparently last Monday was the day on which we start thinking about our summer break. Well that includes me: two of us have booked to go to the Quilt Show in Alsace in September run by Arena Travel; details are on the Quilt Retreat page of the site http://www.justhands-on.tv/small-ads/category/3/ and I am already savouring...

Val: Just a quick note to thank all of you who took part in the survey; we appreciate your input and your comments. Some of the things we can respond to immediately but others may take time but either way, we appreciate that you took time to respond. The winner of the one year membership is Marlene Hutchinson, so congratulations to her - we look forward to seeing lots of new stuff made as a result of her new viewing pleasure!

Val: South of England showground Friday/Sat/Sun 28th-30th January is the place to find us; Grosvenor Shows organise this annual show which is a great venue and provides shopping with traders and quilts to see as well as demonstrations to enjoy - and the catering is pretty good too! I will be helping on the Creative Quilting stand so do stop by is you are there.

Val: Well as I said in the news update we have just got back from 10 days in sunny Lanzarote; this is an island I fell in love with about 15 years ago and if you recall hubby and I tried TWICE last year to get there: once in January (2010 that is) when we were snowed in; then we rebooked for April when we got grounded by the ash cloud, so I thought we had better give up trying! Still we got there this year and had a super time; we rented a villa through a small family run business...

Val: Creative Quilting have a wonderful club that you can join which will send you every two months a bundle of colour-co-ordinated fat 1/4ms so all you have to do is find a project for them!! Take a look at the latest example on the small ads pages of the website.

Val: If you want to know what new fabrics have arrived you could do worse than check out the Fabric Sample club run by Creative Quilting; they offer 10 new samples @ 5' per month and to see what they are you just need to go to the Small Ads pages of the website.
