Just another few days and Spring will technically be here and in the UK we put the clocks forward – I love the lighter evenings and even though the garden does start to call I seem to do more sewing somehow. Jennie and I had a really lovely time at the Textiles in Focus exhibition just outside Cambridge last weekend (more info on the earlier Blog) and it was good to meet so many of our members too. Textiles in Focus 2011

Val: Last weekend Jennie and I had a great time participating in the Textiles in Focus event organised by Pauline Verrinder. This is an annual event held in the Cottenham Village College (close to Cambridge) and very easy to get to. There were traders and speakers together with workshops and textile exhibitions. One of the two exhibitions this year is a group of artists called Fibre Fushion mentored by Pauline and amongst the items on display was a Touch & Feel table which I thought...

I had a great day Fri 18th Feb with the boys from Bizview.tv filming lots more goodies for you including a great workshop using the fabrics from Oakshott; their fabrics are beautifully packaged in colour ranges and they have very cleverly designed patterns that make the best use of these even though the quantities are only 1/8th's. While Oakshott don't have a shop they do have a well stocked showroom and welcome small parties by prior arrangement - you can wander round too from home by watching...
London Quilters Evening

Val: Justhands-on.tv and Creative Quilting were invited to be the trader and speaker at the monthly meeting of London Quilters last night; it was a wet evening outside, but inside it was warm and friendly - with great cake! Both Isa and I were made very welcome and many hands made light work of unloading the car (and later reloading) of all the goodies and quilts we took. The group were keen shoppers and polite listeners to my talk, illustrated with quilts, of my personal patchwork...

Val: This event is being held 25/26/27 February at Cottenham Village College. It includes 3 days of workshops, there will be a lecture by Dawn Thorn - Transparency and Dimension - and the two exhibition halls will be showcasing the textile art of 'The O2 Textile Group' and 'Fibrefusion'.
