Hever Castle: Country Life at the Castle Show

Part two of our visit last September goes up onto the site today so if you missed it you can wander round with us. Val: Booked by Dave this proved to be stocked with fascinating information. Not only was it 10 minutes from our filming venue (Bee Crafty in Ellington, Cambs) but there was/is a connection with John Hedgecoe - a famous photographer - but also with Lucy Boston and her quilts/home in Cambridgeshire. Great value patchwork

Many of you will have seen the adverts for a new magazine that is persuading you (or trying to) make a patchwork quilt in what looks like 6' squares monthly over a LONG period of time. Some bright spark has worked out that despite the cheap introductory copy the whole quilt will cost you £354 (yes you do get fabric in that price but even so!) A spokesperson for the magazine says that they offer excellent advice - well I think we do much better so with our many valued and high quality...

3rd February 2012 This month we thought we would encourage you to look at your wardrobe and/or scraps with a different approach; today we introduce you to Steve Weekes, a textile recycler, who shows us how to upcycle a jacket to make it more stylish (more next month); and later in the month Mandy Shaw uses up all sorts of recycled fabrics to make a Mary Poppins style bag and again everything/anything goes –into it that is!
