Just a quick update as to what's new; Lynette Harris uses a little bit of magic on the site to share with us a Shadow Applique workshop - her little girl, boy and card kit are exceptionally good value, and exclusively to Justhands-on.tv she has added the voile into the kit so that you are ready-to-go. Sylvia Critcher will be joining us next week with her trapunto Summer Rose cushion workshop as well as a more in-depth interview with Angela Madden. Later in the month we will be enjoying meeting Lesley Brankin and her award winning, painted and stitched, O X O quilt.
Jennie and I were busy this week visiting a super quilting shop called Midsomer Quilting, so that film will be coming shortly; they made us exceptionally welcome - as indeed they do all their customers -with a great workshop with Judi Mendlessohn,an overview of their long arm quilting facility as well as a lesson on how to layer up quilts - so watch out for that. If you are in the market to have quilts finished, check out the service offered by these Long Arm Quilting girls, several of whom are advertised in the Small Ads section of the site, and if you don't know what I'm talking about, check out the Compton Quilting video (video clips, general interest section http://www.justhands-on.tv/videos/1/)
I also spent time recently down at the Exeter Show run by Roger Cooling and his team and we filmed some wonderful quilts made by Pat Deacon Patricia Archibald and Roy Dickenson; and of course we spoke to the traders there - Step by Step Patchwork, Villavin Crafts, Strawberry Fayre to name but 3; so lots of wonderful film still to come. We posted more information on the blog pages, including info on the great B&B that I stayed in.
Looking further ahead we are planning to visit a Textile Exhibition in the Pall Mall Galleries, London, which will be running the first week of June by Prism Textile Group, called Evolve, Evoke, Expand (details on the events page). If you are a textile artist and want to sell your work, why not give some thought to putting a small ad on our site?
AND we will be at the Festival of Quilts again (August 19-22nd, Birmngham NEC) . Andrew Salmon has very kindly agreed to allow us to be there for the weekend, PLUS the Fashion Show. Haven't heard about it? Well our Jennie is involved as well as Angela Madden, Annette Claxton, Helen Deighan and Ferret and they are taking on the Russians! It's to be a ticketed dinner affair on the Friday eve 20th, and tickets are available from Twisted Thread (and advance entry tickets to the show are also now available).
As always to get the most from our site you do need to subscribe - details on the Members page; if you want to pay by cheque that's not a problem - just contact us, and remember Friday is the day the new films get uploaded so there's always something new for the weekend.
Well we seem to be lucky with the weather at the moment, but lighter evenings surely mean more time to sew; I treated myself recently to a new quilting book called 'Mindful Meandering' by Laura Lee Fritz (see shopping pages) and I plan to practice more, but here is a bit of nonsense I also couldn't resist: (turn your odd socks into fun chacters)http://www.justhands-on.tv/shopping/1/
