Ragged edge patchwork around the applique on these cushions gives a lovely cuddly look and feel.   Gail has used fleece for her examples, but you could equally use cotton fabrics.

Gail is a new UK designer and I'm sure we will be seeing a lot more of her work.   Another pattern to check out is 'Dolly Mixture' which is a snuggle quilt and matching cushion, where the ragged edge patchwork allows you to work all three layers of the project at the same time - using up scraps of wadding in the process.
