The Cinderella Shoe
When I work with my students16-20 years of age I see their way of trying different ways of fitting into a role, they want to be beautiful, slimmer, tougher or they want to be as they think is right. Some of them are forced into something they do not want by parents, friends or society. I thought about Cinderella’s half sisters that were forced one to cut her heal of and the other one to cut her big toe just to fit the shoe that the prince came with. In both cases the blood that came from the wound gave them away
When I made the shoe I put plastic around a high-heeled shoe and used the same technique with glue and lace, I actually used the lace from a wedding dress a friend gave to me to use. I let it dry and cut the heel and broke it off from the shoe. I was very happy that it did not brake. I used a piece of an old pattern were you can see the marking from different sizes and put it inside, I also glued two standing half- razorblade in the middle and used some dark-red acrylic colour on them.
It looks terrific and terrible.
