Today we join the London Quilters at the opening ceremony of their biennial exhibition called ‘Coming Home’;  the exhibition runs through until 4th January at the Swiss Cottage Library in London NW3.   You will see that Tracy Chevalier (author and quilter) was there to do the official speech and we were excited to be able to interview her about her own very first quilt – which is also on display at the exhibition.

There is also a quilt on display entitled Making Time Fly that was pieced by Pauline Macaulay and quilted by Sylvester who was in HMP Brixton.  Pauline  commissioned him to quilt the double bed quilt as part of the Fine Cell Work project and if you missed it there was a feature on this yesterday on Radio 2 on the Jeremy Vine show.  Pauline had interviewed Sylvester a while back for the Talking Quilts: Saving Quilters’ Stories oral history project which she is heading.  This is an exciting national project of The Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles which is funded by Heritage Lottery Fund.
