If you are watching the taster of this then you will have got a flavour of the work from a variety of textile artists with the help of Edwina Mackinnon; and  you will be able to enjoy the work of the rest of the group in Part 1.

Valerie is joined by Hilary Beattie who acted as host and guide round the exhibition where you can enjoy work from the following artists in this section:

Edwina Mackinnon
Hilary Beattie
Lesley Brankin
Jenny Rolfe
Veronic Coad
Debbie Orange

The information from Lesley on the machine she used to create her stunning designwork is the Janome Memory Craft 12000.

If you are tempted to try any of the techniques and need help with supplies, then visit Art Van Go. www.artvango.co.uk

If you want to have a try then Hilary Beattie has a beginners book out - Make It Personal - which covers lots of different ideas and guides you through making decisions and choices in this field.  It is our Book of the Month for Dec 2013 so comes with FREE p&p in the UK

We also have a discharge medium called deColourant here on the site - and you can watch several videos - just put 'deColourant' into the search box.

The exhibition organiser was Amanda Wright who is also in charge of the Weaver Gallery at Church Lane, Ledbury HR8 1DW where she holds classes and workshops as well as staging exhibitions.

For more information you can contact her on: 01531633 325.

We thank Lesley, who was part of the exhibition, for the following comments and hope her observations are being enjoyed by all our viewers.

I have just watched the second part of the film you did on our Living in the Middle exhibition. I think you and the guys did a fabulous job on the whole project though I have to say that I think Hilary was the star of the show!  Just how did she come up with all that information given that she had literally only seen most of the pieces that day?

Although I saw the exhibition  there was a lot of details which I totally missed first time round – so thank you for the opportunity for  a revisit.

Well done all and thank you for making the effort to visit.

Best Wishes

Lesley
