Workshop notes

To make the loops as shown in the workshop you need:

To cut a strip of fabric 5” wide

Fold in half, right sides together, down its length and sew the raw edges together

Then you can cut the strip apart into sections – again suggest 5” - we had two.

Turn right side out and place the seam at the centre back.

Fold in half and place onto your project with the raw edges on the raw edge of your project and the loops hanging down INTO the project.

Tack into place

If you are fast turning then you will be working from the back of your project and you would sew all the way round, leaving a gap and then turn right side out and the loops will pop up!!

BUT you could bind your project, which you would do at this stage and then fold the loops up.

These are very simple to make and the size will depend a little on the size of the project you are trying to hang;  they can be used to hang quilts but I would suggest you make the loops bigger and more of them so that the weight is distributed more evenly.   With this type of hanging system you would expect to have a nice pole or similar which is on show.

The project shown was made from a pattern called Boughs of Folly which is available from the shop.

And there is a workshop on using bobbin thread to create the couched effect detailing the outside of the trees - click here to view.
