Workshop Notes for Yo-Yo Santa

Be Aware – these can become addictive

Trace off pattern onto Heat 'N Bond (or similar fusible webbing) in two sections: the hat and the face

Fuse onto the wrong side of the relevant fabrics

Fuse a piece of fabric large enough for the whole santa shape onto the back of a piece of Timtex (or stiff-stuff of your choice)

Cut out the hat and face of the santa and fuse onto the front of the Timtex piece

Cut out complete shape – either with pinking shears which you could leave; OR with ordinary scissors.

You could zig-zag round the hat shape with thread to neaten the edges.(use the offcuts of timtex to test your stitching and tension)

Make Yo-yo’s from small circular pieces of wadding and then sew into place around the face – along the bottom edge and across the join with the hat fabric

Another could be added to the top of the hat

Add hanging loop or similar

NOTE: Think about reducing the size to be a gift tag or little tree decorations – they can be done with the offcuts of the timtex and no need for the yo-yo’s.

Quick & Easy Christmas Decoration

A really quick project that can become addictive - increase or reduce the size and make LOTS.

Yo-Yo Santa allows you to use up scraps of wadding and fabric to create a fun, seasonal wallhanging. Reduce the size and he can become a tree decoration; and you can use your imagination for embellishments.

and if you like making Yo-Yo's take a look at the newer workshop with Valerie making garlands.
